In a recent Interview, Malayalam actor Azees Nedumangad revealed how his film Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey Hindi remake was shelved despite Aamir Khan showing interest. Malayalam film Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, starring Darshana Rajendran and Basil Joseph, impressed the audience with its unique perspective of a toxic marriage. Directed by Vipin Das, the film follows a heartbreaking tale of a woman standing up against ruthless social norms.
In a recent interview, Malayalam actor Azees Nedumangad, who played the role of Rajesh’s cousin Ani, revealed how actor Aamir Khan was moved by the film and wanted to make a Hindi remake. During a recent interview with Reporter Channel, Azees claimed that Aamir , who called the film an ‘absolute gem,’ went on to text Vipin Das in 2023. The actor not only showed interest in producing the Hindi remake but also met the director.
However, despite Aamir showing such interest, the Hindi remake ended up being shelved. The actor stated, “They held discussions on who would play what and decided to let the actor who played the mother in Malayalam reprise her role in the Hindi remake as well. They even considered following the same for the rest of the cast because they could not find actors suitable to play these character roles.
Since the casting could not happen as they wanted, that film got dropped." Moving on, in 2023, Vipin also opened up about receiving Aamir’s text about Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey. Sharing a photo with Aamir, the director praised Aamir Khan for his kind words about the film, writing, “One day, when a small town film maker was buying groceries from a nearby small shop, he got a message about his small movie #jayajayajayajayahey from an all time super star, which felt like #taarezaminpar.
It became even more unreal when he called and said, “Hi, Vipin. This is Aamir Khan". At that moment, I survived my first heart attack.
" According to Sacnilk, the movie was one of the biggest hits in the Malayalam film industry in 2022, collecting Rs 43.2 crore worldwide. Similar to the 2021 movie The Great Indian Kitchen, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey also sparked discussions on social media.
