Azizam is a Persian word which is pronounced as ah-zee-zam. It is made of two words: “Aziz", meaning “dear" or “beloved," and it ends with the suffix “am".

So, the word Azizam literally means “my dear" or “my beloved". This special word has its roots in Persian culture, which makes it quite clear who helped Ed Sheeran make the song. None other than ILYA.

Azizam has been produced by Ilya Salmanzadeh, aka ILYA, a bigwig music producer with Persian roots. A member of Max Martin’s WolfCousins cohort, the songwriter-producer has also worked with other popular artists such as Ariana Grande on Into You, Greedy and many more, Ellie Goulding on Love Me Like You Do, and Sam Smith on Unholy. Through an Instagram post, the English singer shared that the song came into existence after ILYA suggested to take inspiration from his Persian heritage and culture.

In the post, he wrote, “I wrote Azizam after @ilya_music suggested trying out making music inspired by his Persian heritage and culture. I love learning about music and different cultures the more I travel and connect with people. It was like opening a door to a completely new and exciting world.

" Along with the upbeat song, Ed Sheeran released a fun and vibrant “Pink Heart" video which features clips from the US during his promotional tour. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the Perfect singer might also release an official music video for Azizam. However, the dates haven’t been confirmed yet.

Previously, during his appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Ed Sheeran revealed that he would be releasing five more albums before retiring. His next album will be called Play, followed by Pause, Fast Forward, Rewind and Stop. He said, “When I was like 18, I had an idea for like 10 albums, and it was Plus, Multiply, Divide, Subtract, Equals, and then Play, Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward, Stop.

So I’ve always wanted to do 10. I’m kind of a bit obsessed with Tarantino and I heard he was doing 10 films, and he’s got his side projects. So I’m like, I want to do my 10 and, now and then, do a side project here and then.
