Punjab Kings (PBKS) batters Nehal Wadhera and Prabhsimran Singh have hailed the big impact that head coach Ricky Ponting has made with his positive coaching approach in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 already. Ponting has been appointed as the PBKS coach on a four-year contract in September after ending up ninth last season under the tutelage of Trevor Bayliss. Wadhera smashed 43* in the previous match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), whereas Prabhsimran registered 69 on the board to take PBKS to 172 with 22 deliveries to spare.

"He's one of the best coaches I've ever worked with," said Wadhera, who was inserted by Ponting as an impact player. "I've never heard any negative talk from him and that's the best thing about him. "He talks positive, and when a coach gives you such positive remarks, that automatically boosts your confidence.

" Prabhsimran said that Ponting and his coaching staff have infused a victorious mentality in their ranks, as they look to break their 17-year-long drought for silverware. "They're legends," he added. "Whenever they speak, it's always positive.

There's no such thing as 'if' (in their thinking). "They ask us to go with just one mindset, and that is of winning. They have asked us to back our game.
