Falmouth, ME- Herbert Adrian Heineman Jr., 93, of Falmouth, ME, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and three daughters. Born on Feb.
7, 1932, in Queens, NY, Herb spent his formative years along the shores of Long Island before settling in the southern Adirondacks. After serving in the U.S.
Army in Germany during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955, Herb earned a Business degree from Lafayette College. He subsequently graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. His career began on Wall Street, which led to his joining Glens Falls National Bank (now Arrow Bank) in Glens Falls, NY.
Herb retired after 31 years with Glens Falls National as President & CEO. Herb was blessed with two loving families. His first marriage to Rachel Evans Dickerson of Shelter Island, NY, brought them three beautiful daughters: Kim Cole, Kerry Mendez, and Jane Carlson.
Following Rachel’s passing from cancer, Herb found love again with Carol Ducey, who was also widowed. The two shared 32 wonderful years together. Through this union, his family grew to include Carol’s four children: Karen Bailey, Kathy Calderini, Joey Avantaggio, and Rick Ducey.
Herb is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren (soon to be 8). Herb’s passion for outdoor activities led him to enthusiastically pursue skiing, fishing, boating, hunting, and golf. He was also known for his impressive skills in both water and ice windsurfing.
Throughout his life, Herb remained dedicated to community service, volunteering with organizations including The Root Cellar in Portland, ME, Meals on Wheels, and Habitat for Humanity. Following a private family burial service, a Celebration of Life reception will be hosted at 3 pm on May 10, 2025, at OceanView at Falmouth, 20 Blueberry Lane, Falmouth, ME.
