Veteran actress and politician, Hema Malini participated in the Maha Kumbh , arriving on Monday evening to take part in the spiritual gathering . Stampede in Maha Kumbh Mela A chaotic stampede-like situation unfolded at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj as thousands of devotees rushed towards the Triveni Sangam for a holy dip on the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, closely monitoring the developments, spoke with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath twice within an hour as reports emerged that about a dozen people are feared dead. Authorities have stated that around 35 injured devotees are receiving treatment at a hospital.

In response to the escalating situation, CM Yogi urged devotees to avoid overcrowding at the Triveni Sangam and instead use the multiple designated ‘snan’ ghats across Prayagraj for their ritual bath.
