Helen Flanagan has been slammed by her Celebs Go Dating co-star for "wasting" everyone's time and lying. The former Corrie actress appeared on the show to find love but it soon emerged that she was hiding a secret. A few episodes in, despite going on several dares, she then revealed that she actually had a boyfriend at home.
One dating expert from the series has now said he wasn't too happy about the revelation. Celebs Go Dating and MAFS dating expert Paul C Brunson said he was "very upset" as each celebrity has to be single to appear on the programme. Paul appeared on Capital Breakfast with Jordan, Chris and Sian where he discussed the awkward situation.
Sian said: "One thing I’ve been desperate to talk to you about, we’ve got to ask him about Helen Flanagan right," as Paul interrupted: "I need to leave now." Sian then added: "Everyone’s talking about it. I’ve never seen this before on Celebs Go Dating, halfway through being on it, and she’s having a great time, she suddenly drops a bombshell that she’s got a boyfriend, like what, did you guys see this coming? Did it pull the wool over your eyes?" Paul answered: "Through the years, because I’ve been on this one for nine series, through the years we’ve had rumours of celebs who have walked in with partners, but we never had the proof of it.
But here’s Helen saying 'yeah I’ve got a boyfriend, and I’m in love.' I was very upset. I was very upset.
And the reason why, is we had wasted so much time and energy and she was out here kissing other guys!" He then added: "She’s encouraging them to gain emotions for her and that to me that was all kinds of wrongs." Helen had been on dates with other single guys and had even kissed one of them before revealing she'd met a man at home. "So before then, was she treating it like an acting job? She was kissing other people, but she was playing the role in the agency .
Is that how you kind of saw it?," Chris asked. Paul then explained that he didn't think it was fair that she wasted time. He said: "That’s exactly how I saw it.
I was like, the only thing we get in this world is time. That’s the only thing we get is time and we know our time is limited. So it’s important we use our time towards things that we are passionate about.
"And I think of my energy the same way. I came here, I showed up, so I was thinking, man, this entire time for months, we’ve been expending energy on her and she’s been acting. And we’re not acting at the celebs Go Dating agency.
