HEKARI United will be facing off against New Caledonia’s AS Tiga Sport today in Honiara for the OFC Men’s Champions League. The red team will look to redeem themselves after falling short to AS Tiga Sport in the 2023 edition held in Port Vila 1-0. Hekari United, who finished at the top of pool B with seven points – with two wins and a draw – will take on Tiga Sport who finished in second spot of Pool A after Auckland City FC, a win, loss and draw with 4 points.

Coach Jerry Allan said they had to work on some things ahead of the semi’s today. He also offered his gratitude to the boys for a job well done and to have made it past the group stage. “We’ve come a long way and I think the last time was in 2010, and then we finish it in 2025 and we came a long way and we worked hard to get here like the other teams,” he said.



“The other teams also worked hard to get here. “Our mission is clear, now we are in the semi we need to improve on some areas that need work on.” Allan said the New Caledonia team will not be an easy game.

“This is the Champions League and they worked hard and for us we need to polish some areas and work on them and hopefully we are ready for the semi finals.” Allan added that the most important thing is to score goals. He said right now there is no injury concerns, one or two players were but have recovered since then and hopefully they are ready for the semi final match.

“This is a Champions League and they will become physical, the last time we played them, they beat us. And now it’s in Honiara and we expect a tough game and physical but will play for 90 minutes. It’s all about football and you need to do what you do best.

Hekari United FC will face AS Tiga Sport today at 3pm, while Ifira Black Bird will take on Auckland City FC in the match opener at 11am..
