THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of isolated heavy rains in Kerala. A yellow alert has been issued in five districts. The alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kannur districts.
Heavy rain is defined as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is received in 24 hours.
A special alert has also been issued as part of the Kallakkadal (swell surge waves) phenomenon. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has said that there is a possibility of sea erosion due to waves of 1.2 to 1.

It has also been informed that there is a possibility of sea erosion due to waves of 1 to 1.1 meters high along the coasts from Kappil to Poovar in Thiruvananthapuram district from 2.30 pm to 11.
