Heatwave Alert In Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh: Temperature To Rise In These States Over Next Seven Days

The latest prediction by IMD followed after it recorded a rise in maximum temperatures by 1-3°C over many places in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, UP, Bihar, and East Madhya Pradesh in the past 24 hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for several states, warning that temperature rise may affect daily life and pose health risks.In a press release on Friday, the IMD warned that a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C is likely over many parts of northwest and central India during the next 6-7 days. Further, Maharashtra may see a 3-4°C increase in maximum temperatures.

These changes are expected to intensify hot and humid weather conditions in India, potentially leading to discomfort among people.According to the weather body’s forecast, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab are among the states where heatwave-like conditions will prevail until Apr. 9.

A gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 3-4°C is likely over Maharashtra during next 7 days. Subsequently, districts such as Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar among others have been put on an alert by the IMD till April 8.The IMD predicted no significant change in maximum temperatures over the rest of the country during the next 7 days.

Temperatures were 35-38°C across much of West Rajasthan, East Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Telangana.

In Punjab, north Haryana, south peninsular India, and other regions, temperatures ranged from 30-34°C. The lowest temperatures were reported in the Western Himalayan Region at 20-29°C. The highest temperature of 43.
