Brie, 42 took to her Instagram on Sunday to share a series of emotional photos on her Instagram, paying tribute to Baena. The first image shows Brie smiling as she watches Baena speak at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where he presented Horse Girl—the Netflix film they co-wrote and co-produced, with Baena directing and Brie starring.
In another photo, Brie and Baena are seen hugging, while a third shows her leaning against him on a couch, with Brie writing, “Rest in peace my friend,” as a touching tribute to their close friendship. Plaza was slated to present at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, but those plans have now been overshadowed by the heartbreaking loss of her husband.
