The Weld RE-5J School District celebrated 11 students for making a positive difference in their community. The annual Johnstown/Milliken Rotary Teen Impact Awards Banquet on April 3 recognized students who “demonstrate exceptional character, leadership and service within their schools and community,” according to a news release shared by Rebecca Albert Vollrath, Weld RE-5J’s director of career and innovation. More than 30 submissions for the Teen Impact Awards rolled in over a two-month nomination period, Vollrath said.

A panel of judges then chose 11 students, one from Roosevelt Middle School and the remaining from Roosevelt High School, based on the impact left by their acts of service. Weld Re-5J Superintendent Scott Nielsen expressed his gratitude to partners like the Johnstown/Milliken Rotary Club, who invest in young people and recognize the importance of service. “These awards not only honor the great work our students are already doing but also encourage them to continue developing their leadership skills and commitment to their community,” Nielsen said in the release.

“This type of recognition reinforces the values we work to instill in our students every day — character, kindness, and a heart for service.” The winners are: Eighth grader Vivianne Scott Freshman Remi Krank Freshman Maylin Bernard Sophomore Christina Gumz Junior Haiden Chambers Junior Peter Hollywood Junior Grace Jackson Junior Aislyn Cano Senior Clairissa Watt Senior Julian Pham Senior Joie Stillwell.
