Global fashion icon Heart Evangelista recently revealed the small but significant “sacrifice” she made for her cover shoot for Harper’s Bazaar Singapore’s December 2023 issue. In an episode of her reality series, Heart World, the actress shared her excitement and challenges during her trip to Singapore.
Heart’s itinerary included a quick food trip with her team, followed by a mall shoot. However, the highlight of her visit was the highly anticipated magazine cover shoot. “It’s Harper’s Bazaar Singapore.
This is, for me, a huge deal,” Heart shared. But there was a catch—she had to remove her beloved eyelash extensions for the shoot, a request that gave her some anxiety. “Tinatanggal na po ‘yung lashes ko,” she said while en route to the salon.
“It’s a different look, so they want no lashes at all. Hindi po ito puwedeng gawin sa ibang shoot. Hindi ko kaya!” Despite her initial hesitation, Heart obliged, calling it a minor yet meaningful sacrifice.
Heart also reminisced about her journey to landing this prestigious cover. She recounted her first meeting with Kenneth Goh, the editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, whom she greatly admired for his style. She revealed that Kenneth had been observing her rise in the fashion world, particularly her appearances at Fashion Week.
“He told me that he’s been watching me from afar and that he wanted to put me on the cover,” Heart recalled. However, Kenneth had one specific request—no eyelash extensions. “Sanay na ko na naka ganito, so hindi ko na kilala ang sarili ko na walang lashes,” she admitted.
The sacrifice proved worthwhile, as the shoot resulted in stunning magazine covers. “Sometimes, when it rains, it pours,” Heart said, revealing that she was surprised with not one but two covers. Heart’s dedication and willingness to embrace change underscore her professionalism and passion for her craft, cementing her status as a global fashion icon.
