
Vijayawada: In a bid to provide better government healthcare services in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has formulated a comprehensive 30-point agenda under his Swarnandhra Vision-2047. As part of this, Naidu gave top priority to technology and AI-use in the medical and health sectors and sought to formulate a health and medical agenda under Swarnandhra Vision-2047. The chief minister recently came up with the vision document providing broad guidance for policy making and governance including for the health sector.
On this basis, the medical and health department prepared the agenda. Releasing the 30-point agenda on Friday, health minister Satya Kumar Yadav said this was crafted on the basis of the thoughts and directives of the chief minister during various review meetings he held since the formation of the alliance government in June last. Yadav directed Health Special Chief Secretary MT Krishna Babu to ensure continuous efforts, performance assessments, and result reviews on the execution of the agenda within specified timelines.
The minister explained that the agenda aims to formulate a communication plan for taking various aspects concerning the health sector to the people through all available communication platforms. Internal workshops / brainstorming with all HODs are to be held for due sensitization and further actions. The minister said healthcare services that can be delivered to people through Whatsapp governance will be identified for necessary action.
Under the adoption of AI and ML tools, a review of the present stage of application of AI and Machine Learning tools and preparing a road map for future adoption with timelines will be carried out. Further review of the present modes of data collection about people’s health across the system and its applicability for adoption of AI and ML tools will be held, he said. He said the workload on ANMs, the number of Apps to be uploaded daily and other records/registers to be maintained and its impact on the quality of data collection and its reliability would be reviewed.
In view of the emphasis of the CM on improving the speed of doing business, Satya Kumar said a detailed examination of the scope of decentralized decision-making through appropriate delegation of powers to levels below in the hierarchy will be implemented under the 30-Point Action Plan. He said improvement of functioning and service delivery by the Government General Hospitals in short, medium and long term and ranking of Government General Hospitals and Government Medical Colleges for internal assessment and for creating a healthy spirit of competition are aimed at under the 30-point agenda. The minister said regular review and monitoring of the attendance of doctors and supporting medical staff to ensure their availability as per duty hours, checking corruption at various levels and exploring avenues for garnering more central assistance for ongoing schemes/programmes and through new initiatives are also proposed.
He said, “Following Naidu's instructions, effective use of social media is to be ensured by making all HoDs, programme coordinators and nodal officers responsible for the dissemination of information, initiatives, and achievements on a regular basis through social media. The health ministry’s website is to be reviewed and steps are to be taken to make it more user-friendly. All officers should have social media handles.
Operationalization of 10 new government medical colleges through PPP and establishment of specialty hospitals in each assembly constituency are proposed under the 30-point agenda, he added..
