Harry Potter actor Nick Moran was warned he might not be able to walk or talk again after he was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition . The 55-year-old, who played snatcher Scabior in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows films , was recently taken to the hospital after discovering that his neck pain was due to damage to his spinal cord. He underwent emergency spinal surgery, which cut into his spine and removed four bones from his neck, and is now recovering at home.
His friend Terry Stone revealed that Nick's girlfriend insisted he should get checked, but the actor didn't think much of the pain and wanted to use heat rub at first. When he eventually went to the see the doctors, he was told he needed an emergency operation as his condition was "life-threatening." Terry said Nick is now recovering but was told by doctors that unless he underwent the surgery, "he might never walk or talk again, which was traumatic.
" The actor and podcaster said, "He's not in the best of health, but when he came out of the operation I was like 'thank God' because I think he'd decided he'd rather not walk or talk than die." He added to Mail Online , "They had to replace [bones in his neck] with artificial bone, it was micro surgery and because there's so many nerves around the neck and spine this made the operation tricky with those awful chances of not being able to speak or walk again." Nick's podcast co-host Terry said Nick and his family were happy for him to share the health update with fans after what seems to have been a successful surgery.
Thankfully, Nick is now "speaking and shuffling around" as he recovers from the major surgery. Terry first shared the news of Nick's surgery on social media with the picture of Nick lying in a hospital bed. Along with the photo, he said, "News update for you all on Nick Moran.
He's had major surgery and is recovering in the ICU he's giving us the thumbs up but still needs your support, prayers & love. Let's pray he fully recovers and is be back to normal soon." He added, "We did a fantastic podcast together a few months back.
Nick is very private and isn't on social media he did ours as an exclusive & you can all tune in to watch us together this Sunday at 6pm. If there are any further updates on Nick I will let you all know in the live chat this coming Sunday." Fans and friends quickly filled the comment section with well-wishes for Nick's recovery.
DJ and producer Tom Zanetti wrote, "Wishing strength and quick recovery." One fan expressed, "Sending all my love and wishes for his speedy recovery," while another commented, "Looks and sounds positive so fingers crossed Nick will be bouncing about real soon." One more person expressed support by saying, "Please pass on my healing thoughts and love and a speedy recovery Terry," and a different admirer shared, "Get well soon Eddy.
. keep fighting the good fight." In addition to his role in Harry Potter, Nick has also gained fame from his standout role in Guy Ritchie's acclaimed film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
His impressive career also includes performances in Another Life, The Musketeer, Nemesis, Boogie Man, and New Blood. Not just sticking to the big screen, the English actor has shown his talent on television with parts in Inside No. 9, By Any Means, Death in Paradise, Babs, The Bill, Casualty and Born to Shine.
