HBO's upcoming "Harry Potter" series has cast its Hogwarts professors and staff! The series announced that John Lithgow will play school headmaster Albus Dumbledore while Janet McTeer will play Transfiguration teacher and Gryffindor's head of house Minerva McGonagall. Paapa Essiedu, meanwhile, will play Severus Snape, the Potions professor and Slytherin's head of house. Nick Frost will play Rubeus Hagrid, a half-giant half-wizard and the Hogwarts keeper of keys and grounds.
All four will be regular cast members. Other casting announcements include Luke Thallon, who will play Defense of the Dark Arts teacher Quirinus Quirell; and Paul Whitehouse, who will play Argus Filch, a squib and the Hogwarts caretaker. Thallon and Whitehouse are guest or recurring cast members.
The "Harry Potter" series was first announced in 2023. Francesca Gardiner will write and produce as showrunner. Mark Mylod will also produce and direct multiple episodes.
The series is an adaptation of the beloved "Harry Potter" book series written by JK Rowling, which was also adapted into eight films. —MGP, GMA Integrated News.
