Harry Kane scored four goals to become England ’s all-time leading goalscorer in the Champions League on a record-breaking night for the Bayern Munich striker. Kane, 31, went into Tuesday’s night match against Dinamo Zagreb needing one goal draw level with Wayne Rooney, who scored 30 goals in the competition. Advertisement The ex- Tottenham Hotspur forward netted four times, with his first three all coming from the penalty spot, to take his overall tally to 33 as Bayern thrashed their Croatian opponents 9-2 to get their campaign off to the perfect start.

” Kane, who signed for Bayern last summer in a transfer worth more than €100million (£86.4m, $110m), also became the first English player to score four goals in a Champions League game. His hat-trick of spot kicks was also a first for a player of any nationality in the history of the European Cup.
“I keep all the balls after hat-tricks. The lads might be sick of signing them, but keep them coming,” Kane added. “My son Louis, he loves playing football right now.
He’s only three, but I’ll take it home and put it next to his bed and he’ll be happy when he wakes up in the morning.” Kane has scored 53 goals in 50 games in all competitions since joining Bayern, including nine in his past three games for club and country, after scoring twice on his 100th appearance for England. Bayern return to action on Saturday against Werder Bremen before hosting defending Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen a week later.
