Harold Johansson of Edinburg, N.Y. passed away on September 6, 2024, at the age of 90.
Harold was born on August 17, 1934, to Gunnar and Edith Johansson on Staten Island, N.Y. He married Janet Bergren in 1957 and they moved their family to Edinburg, N.
Y. in 1971. He served eight years in the active army reserves and worked as a pipe fitter until he retired in 1994.
He enjoyed playing golf and had a huge heart for animals, having had many cherished pets throughout the years. Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years, Janet; and their four children, Jane Knoedler (Larry), Wendy Johansson, Gunnar Johansson (Niki) and Pam Johnson as well as his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, John; and sister, Gloria; and leaves behind his beloved cats, Sally and Molly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite Veteran’s organization or animal shelter in his honor. A celebration of life will be held in Edinburg, N.Y.
