Indian cricket legend Harbhajan Singh has confirmed that things are not good between him and Mahendra Singh Dhoni . During a recent interview, the 'Turbanator' reportedly revealed that it has been ten years since he has had any meaningful conversation with Dhoni and that he sees no reason to speak anymore. Both the cricketers were part of the Chennai Super Kings from 2018 to 2020 but even then, Singh says, their conversation was limited to the field.
"No, I don't speak to Dhoni. When I was playing at CSK, that's when we spoke, but otherwise, we haven't spoken. It's been 10 years and more," Harbhajan said in a conversation with CricketNext.
"I have no reason; perhaps he does. I don't know what the reasons are. When we were playing in the IPL at CSK, that's when we used to talk, and that, too, was restricted to the ground.
After that, he did not come to my room, nor did I go to his," he added. He went on to say that he has no animosity toward Dhoni and that he is open for a conversation. "If he has something to say, he can tell me.
But if he did, he would have told me by now. I never tried to call him because I have a lot of passion. I only ring up those who pick up my calls.
I don't have the time otherwise. I stay in touch with the ones I am friends with," Harbhajan said. He hinted that Dhoni doesn't pick his calls saying, "If I call you once or twice but don't get a response, I will probably only meet you as much as I am needed to.
" Surprisingly, Harbhajan is not the only one who has drifted apart from Dhoni. In 2023, Yuvraj Singh also said that he is not close to the former Indian team skipper. "Me and Mahi are not close friends.
We were friends because of cricket, we played together. Mahi's lifestyle was very different from me, so we were never close friends, we were only friends because of cricket," Yuvraj said on The Ranveer Show. Yuvraj's father Yograj Singh too has a bitter opinion of Dhoni reportedly said earlier in September that the former destroyed his son's life.
Most recently, Sanju Samson's father accused Dhoni and other senior cricketers such as Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma of wasting 10 years of his son's life. (Image: X/@HarbhajanSingh).
