Actress Jessica Rothe has confirmed that the long-awaited third installment in the “Happy Death Day” horror-comedy franchise is ‘moving forward’.Rothe confirmed the news while appearing on stage at the American Cinematheque last night alongside director Christopher Landon to host a double feature screening of the first two movies. Landon then himself added: “It is moving forward”.
The first film launched in 2017, a Groundhog Day meets slasher film all rolled up into a dark comedy which received positive reviews and grossed $125 million worldwide on a $4.8 million budget. Rothe in particular scored much acclaim for her role as party girl turned hero Tree Gelbman.

It wasn’t as well received, taking in $64 million worldwide from a $9 million budget – but opened right as the pandemic was getting underway and so found its full box-office potential curtailed.
