SHREVEPORT, La. - On Saturday, thousands of people across the nation protested against President Trump and Elon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency. Dubbed "hands off"- its mission is to denounce the president's actions on government downsizing, the economy and human rights.
Despite the rain and bad weather, people right here in Shreveport participated in the hands off protest. Around 200 people gathered outside the Caddo Parish Courthouse Saturday afternoon, even people from two hours away drove to be a part of protest. "We are out here protesting.
The whole point of this is that we are nonviolently rallying and protesting. We all have a lot of different reasons. There's a lot going on right now and if you talk to everybody here, they'll all have a different reason that's most important to them," said protester Anna Emfinger.
There were tense moments between protesters and people with differing views. "Losers, nothing but losers, that's all you people are," said someone driving by. But there were also Trump supporters and protesters having peaceful conversations together.
