An A-Z guide to the 2024-25 season: Availability reports — In a move the league said is intended to curtail gambling, the SEC will provide public reports on player availability for conference games. Schools are required to provide availability reports starting three days before each league game and then daily updates, the last coming 90 minutes before kickoff. Athletes will be regarded as “available,” “probable,” “questionable,” “doubtful” or “out” in the pre-gameday reports.

The final report will have “available,” “game-time decision” or “out” as designations and without specifics regarding if the listing is based on injury or not. Failing to follow the policy could result in up to $100,000 in penalties. The Big 10 and Mid-American Conference already have instituted such reports.

Beamer, Shane — He enters his fourth season as South Carolina’s coach with 20-18 overall record (10-14 SEC). Half of his wins in league play have come against Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Conference makeovers — It’s now a Power 4 world.

Cal, SMU and Stanford are now in the ACC, while the corner schools (Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah) make the Big 12 a 16-member conference.

DeBoer, Kalen — He’s 49 years old, is 104-12 in nine years as a head coach and led Washington to last season‘s national championship game. DeBoer is also the guy tasked with replacing Nick Saban at Alabama. Good luck with that.

Kid you not. Florida’s schedule — Eleven of 12 games are against P4 teams, eight of which are currently ranked in the AP Top 25. That’s historically tough sledding for coach Billy Napier, who's 11-14 during his first two seasons with the Gators.

Georgia — The Bulldogs are the preseason No. 1, have a Heisman Trophy favorite at quarterback in Carson Beck and are chasing history via a possible third title in four years. Hot seat — See “Florida’s schedule.

” In-helmet radios — Coaches will now be able to communicate directly with one player on offense, one player on defense. The radios , which shut off with 15 seconds remaining on the play clock, are in response to the Michigan sign-stealing scandal that’s yet to be resolved. Jurisprudence — Four lawsuits in three states: Clemson is suing the ACC in South Carolina; Florida State is suing the ACC in Florida; and the ACC is suing both in North Carolina.

What a time to be alive. Klubnik, Cade — He returns as Clemson’s starting quarterback . And plenty of folks are still sideways he’s not yet turned into Deshaun Watson or Trevor Lawrence.

L’s — Two many of those before Halloween, and Bobby Petrino will be Arkansas’ head coach. McCall, Grayson — It’s going to be weird seeing McCall wearing N.C.

State red instead of Coastal Carolina teal. But it’s an opportunity for him to prove his three Sun Belt Player of the Year awards were legit, not merely the result of playing Group of 5 competition. And Myrtle Beach State University will never be the same.
