The spirit of Sullivan’s Island’s legendary Halloween parties will rise again with HALO-ween, presented by HALO (Holy City Arts & Lyric Opera). Taking place at the historic Battery Gadsden on Oct. 25, this event promises to be a vibrant celebration of art, music and community.

HALO-ween marks HALO’s first event of a three-year residency at Battery Gadsden. This festive evening offers attendees the chance to explore both indoor and outdoor spaces at the historic venue, featuring musical performances throughout the evening, recitations of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven, delicious food and beverages, and video screenings showcasing the transformation process for productions like Into the Woods, which the company produced at the venue in 2022. “This event is like an open house,” says Leah Edwards, HALO’s General Director and co-founder.

“It’s a way for the community to see the exciting plans we have in store, while enjoying a fun, innovative night.” HALO and Battery Gadsden Cultural Center share a mission of fostering community, and ticket sales from the event will benefit both organizations. The enthusiasm from locals is already evident, inspired by HALO’s history of groundbreaking performances in unexpected places, such as La Traviata at The Joe, Rigoletto set on a basketball court, and Into the Woods in the actual woods.

“Performing in the elements is so important for creativity, community, and inspiration — it’s the ultimate show of theatricality,” Edwards adds. Don’t miss this unique blend of Halloween haunts, artistic magic, and community togetherness. With costumes, music, and HALO’s signature flair, this is bound to be a night to remember.

HALO-ween is one night only on Oct. 25. All are welcome! Costumes encouraged, advance reservations recommended.

Festivities begin at 6pm. Tickets: $50. ADA parking is available.

Battery Gadsden is located at 1917 I’On Avenue, Sullivan’s Island, SC 29482. For more information, full season listing and to purchase tickets, visit www.holycityarts.
