Many tabletop games feature intrepid heroes battling the minions of the Cthulhu Mythos. Options like Call of Cthulhu and Delta Green allows players to investigate strange mysteries, encounter horrific scenes and wrestle with their own sanity. The Arkham Horror Files , which sprung from Fantasy Flight Games ’s legendary Arkham Horror board game, are a collection of games and other media that have introduced tabletop gamers to the Cthulhu Mythos for almost 20 years.

The company has a bountiful portfolio of Mythos themed games including the third edition of Arkham Horror, the miniatures board game Mansions of Madness, a= and the hidden traitor game Unfathomable . They just released new expansions for the Arkham Horror: The Card Game which they sent along for the article. I also recieved an advance copy of the Arkham Horror Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook to review.



Arkham Horror The Innsmouth Conspiracy Arkham Horror The Card Game is an expandable card game where players build decks that represent their characters. The decks include equipment, spells and other things that define how the character engages with the mysteries of the Mythos. It also includes flaw cards that can arrive at the most inopportune times to push the player into bigger trouble while on a case.

Each expansion for the game come in two box sets. The first is the Investigator Expansion that’s full of new player cards, characters and ways to modify those decks for the storyline. The second is the Campaign Expansion which offers monsters, madness and a few episodes for players to experience with different Mythos decks.

The most recent release is The Innsmouth Conspiracy which takes players out of Arkham and into the neighboring fighing town of Innsmouth. A government agent has gone missing and it’s up to the players to find them. The investigators must navigate suspicious townfolks, flooded streets and unlock their own memories to solve this mystery.

Fans of the Mythos will have an idea what they are up against if they’ve read Lovecraft’s The Shadow Over Innsmouth. Fans looking to batlle some classic Mythos monsters will enjoy The Innsmouth Conspiracy. The set is also a great followup for players that have completed other storylines for the game.

Arkham Horror Roleplaying Game Arkham Horror fans looking to jump into roleplaying games were able to pick up the Arkham Horror Roleplaying Game Starter Get at Gen Con. I got my hands on an advance copy of the Arkham Horror Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook to see what the full game looks like. The game is ja packed full of everything players will need to explore every dark corner of town.

The game uses a simple D6 pool for resolution. Simple tasks just require a player to spend a dice out of the pool. Complex actions, like combat and spellcasting, require players to roll any spent dice to see if they are a success.

Characters are built via a class based system that mirror the classes in the card game. That allows players a choice when making characters. Either they can build original characters or they can build characters based on their favorite decks to take on new adventures.

The Starter Set is available now. Arkham Horror Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook will be available on November 22nd, 2024. Arkham Mysteries , the first adventure book for the game, will be available in early 2025.

Arkham Horror Week Of Horror The Fantasy Flight website celebrates Arkham Horror from October 24th through October 31st. The company will livestream games on the website, offer downloads for fans and previews of the next set of the card game expansion The Drowned City. Cthulhu finally comes for Arkham in this blockbuster storyline and only the player stand in the way.

Whether a new player or a returning fan, there are a lot of great ways to get into Arkham Horror. Every dice rolled and card played is a chance for humanity to survive another day. Whether playing solo or with friends, this week is a great time to step unto the darkness and push it back just a little bit.
