Could the Pittsburgh Steelers make an out-of-left-field pick at No. 21?

NFL Hall of Fame head coach Tony Dungy has a shocking pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft . The pick? Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who spent six seasons in college football with UCF, Oklahoma, and the Ducks. In that time, he took Oregon to the postseason in 2024 along with a Big Ten Championship.

Still, they fell to the eventual National Champions, Ohio State , in the College Football Playoffs. “We’ve gotta address that quarterback position,” Dungy said . “I’m gonna make a shocking pick here and I’m gonna pick Dillon Gabriel from the University of Oregon.

I think he’s a Bo Nix clone. He’s played six years in college football, he’s thrown over 1,300 passes. He’s got a high percentage of completions.

Doesn’t throw interceptions. He’s mobile. He doesn’t have maybe the big name of Sanders, but I think he is a guy who can step in and play and fix that quarterback position.

” The shocking point of the pick might not be the position, but who Dungy is picking. Gabriel is projected to be a day three pick behind many of the other top quarterbacks in the class, and the Steelers have not shown any tangible interest in the talented quarterback. Gabriel has a ton of production on his college resume.

He had 3857 passing yards and 30 touchdowns to only six interceptions. He posted a career-high 72.9 completion percentage in the Ducks offense.
