KOTA KINABALU (Sept 16): Muslims in the state are reminded not to continue to be trapped in their comfort zone and to think that the fate and future of the Bumiputera people are still guaranteed and protected. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said Muslims should get out of the cocoon of their comfort zone by applying a culture of thinking based on facts and knowledge, thinking outside the box to advance themselves, the nation and the country.

According to him, the celebration of Maulidur Rasul which is held is not just to commemorate and celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, but rather one of the tools to scrape away the instant gratification mentality and free oneself from the trap of complacency, especially among young people and Muslim youth today. He said in line with the nature and attitude of the Prophet Muhammad SAW who, despite being infallible, loved by God and guaranteed to go to heaven, still persevered and continued to perform acts of worship. “The character of the Messenger of Allah teaches us that Muslims must eliminate the attitude of being easily comfortable and easily satisfied with existing achievements.

“On the contrary, it is necessary to always work and strive towards achieving greater success. “This teaching should be worked on positively by the young generation of Muslims today if they do not want to be left behind in creating success and excellence in life,” he said at the Sabah State Level Maulidur Rasul Celebration 1446H/2024H at the Sabah International Convention Center (SICC) on Monday. Hajiji said that the mastery of knowledge in various fields, including those related to new technologies such as the digital industry, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence (AI), the use of robotics and so on will put the Ummah community on a par with other more advanced nations in the world.

According to him, the government’s approach of inviting the people to commemorate the success of the Prophet SAW in building a successful ummah is in line with the pure desire to develop the human resources and human capital sector. He said that quality human capital is the most important precondition in achieving the vision of the state and the country, as without high values or quality, the country will be weak and unable to compete in any field and arena at the international level. “Therefore, the pure desire of this government not only should be welcomed by all the people, it should even be supported by the community, for the sake of continuous progress and lasting well-being,” he said.

He said under the direction of Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ), the government provides various incentives in the form of educational assistance to outstanding students in the state, including those with less means, to help ease the burden of them continuing their studies at institutions of higher learning. He said the government also introduced several awards in conjunction with the celebration of Maulidur Rasul SAW as a reward and recognition of the contribution and role of those who carry out duties and fardu kifayah services, help facilitate the affairs of the people and so on. “This incentive is a motivation for the Muslim community to continue to emulate and follow the example of Rasulullah SAW in doing good deeds that indirectly glorify His Majesty’s apostleship and defend the religion of Allah SWT with full istiqomah and sincerity,” he added.

Earlier, Hajiji and his wife, Datin Seri Datuk Hajah Juliah Salag with the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and his consort Toh Puan Norlidah R.M. Jasni, were accompanied by more than 7000 Muslims in marching to SICC.
