Hailee Steinfeld did not have a bloody good time! The actress, 28, opened up about being drenched in fake blood while filming her upcoming vampire flick, Sinners . The sticky substance caused her "sensitive skin" to break out, she said in a Beau Society newsletter published on Monday, March 31. When asked about the experience, she ultimately described it as "not great.
" "The only thing I can really compare it to is being covered in mud, which is also gross, or water, which is tough because no one wants to be soaking wet in denim for hours on end,” Steinfeld explained. She noted that her first feature film, the 2010 Western True Grit , helped prepare her for the uncomfortable experience. "But being covered in blood is wild," she continued.
"It’s sticky, SO sticky. Parts of my body were glued to each other. Moving, and like unsticking, was kind of painful.

However, it still negatively affected her skin. "I did break out a bit,” she shared, adding that she has "super sensitive skin.
" "So, I mean blood? Not great or super fun," the actress said. "However, I've always felt that when you have something you feel the weight of on your body — blood, soaking wet denim — it impacts your performance." As for her performance in the upcoming horror movie, she felt that being covered in blood helped raise the stakes.
"Even just walking around the set and seeing castmates, friends covered in blood, was intense and at times really terrifying, especially considering the storyline," she said. Steinfeld stars with Michael B. Jordan , Jack O’Connell , Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller and Delroy Lindo. Jordan plays a dual role as twin brothers in the film.
"Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back," a synopsis reads. Steinfeld spoke with PEOPLE in March about her Nexus campaign, and detailed her time on the movie set. "It was equally as challenging as it was fun," Steinfeld said.
"What a learning curve to take on this supernatural element to this character, but making it feel very human and very real." She added, "I think there's something about vampires that people love and are really drawn to. It's just the most incredible original story.
But yeah, so interesting to spend your days covered in blood and fangs." Sinners hits theaters on April 18. Read the original article on People.
