Gymnastics roundup: Wildcats hit to beat Cards

New London-Spicer’s all-arounders lead the way in a win over Willmar

NEW LONDON — The state-ranked New London-Spicer gymnastics team flipped past Willmar in a clash between Section 6A foes on Thursday. NLS, ranked 14th in Class A, beat the Cardinals 133.6-129.

5 in the non-conference meet. Abby Knudsen, Rylie Harrier and Kaitlyn Preheim led the way for the Wildcats. The three finished second, third and fourth in the all-around.



Knudsen racked up a 33.65 and finished her night with the floor exercise title at 9.30.

The senior was second on the balance beam at 8.90 and tied for second on vault with a 9.10.

Harrier totaled a 33.40 and earned a pair of second-place finishes in the floor exercise (9.00) and the uneven parallel bars (7.

She won the uneven parallel bars title with an 8.00 and placed third on the floor at 8.90.

NLS competes in the Big Lake Invitational at noon Saturday in Big Lake. The Cardinals host Fergus Falls for a Central Lakes Conference dual at 6 p.m.
