Despite so much growth in just a short period of time, as Mayor, I realize we will always have detractors — naysayers and haters who would rather see Gary fail than thrive. While all this progress is taking place, we have seen state legislation targeting Gary, such as attempts to reduce our airport board appointments, claw backs of Gary’s casino revenue dollars, and again an attempt to remove local control over our schools, but still we fight on. Sadly, now we must deal with misinformation being spread throughout the state that I’m looking to step down for another opportunity.

I fight tirelessly for Gary every day — at the regional, state, and federal levels — with the support of our Common Council to ensure our city's assets are protected and that you, our citizens, get the responsive government you deserve. This is hardest job I've ever had, but it is also the most fulfilling. Serving the city where I was born and raised is my passion and calling.
As Mayor, I remain committed to this fight throughout my tenure and beyond. While challenges exist, there is nothing we cannot overcome if we are unified and continue to work together. To those who seek to mislead and divide our community, my message is simple: Channel that energy into helping strengthen and grow our great city instead.
While critics focus on fabricating baseless rumors, I encourage our residents to stay engaged with what truly matters — Gary's continued progress. I invite everyone to join me on April 29, 2025, at 2 p.m.
for my second annual State of the City Address, where I'll share our achievements and our bold vision for Gary's future. Together, we are writing Gary's comeback story. No rumor, no legislation, no opposition will slow our momentum.
Let’s move forward..
