A large group of young people involved in a “physical altercation” triggered response from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in the Wharf and Navy Yard areas of Washington, DC, on Friday, April 18. In a statement to Storyful, a spokesperson for MPD said that at 7:21 pm local time on Friday, “First District officers responded to the 500 block of Water Street, Southwest, for a report of juveniles involved in a physical altercation. Upon arrival, officers observed a large group of youths gathered in the area.
” Police said the juveniles then moved to the Navy Yard area of the city. “At this time, no injuries have been reported and officers are actively monitoring the area to ensure public safety,” police said.
