A coffee brand sold in at least 15 states has recalled a portion of its ground coffee for a mislabeling error on the packaging, the U.S. reports.

Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA voluntarily issued a recall earlier this month for 692 cases of Our Family Traverse Ground Coffee 12-ounce bags that were mislabeled as decaffeinated. The recall was for Traverse City Cherry Artificially Flavored Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee bags sold in 15 states: Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming. The FDA classified the recall March 25 as , which are considered “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.

” The 12-ounce ground coffee bags sold have a best buy date of Aug. 3, 2025. Though decaffeinated coffee has less caffeine than their regular coffee, the FDA warns it “still contains some caffeine.

” “For example, decaf coffee typically has 2 to 15 milligrams in an 8-fluid-ounce cup,” the reads. “If you react strongly to caffeine in a negative way, you may want to avoid these beverages altogether.” The FDA did not note any adverse reactions to the product, but warns “toxic effects, like seizures” can happen with “rapid consumption” caffeine.
