Memphis Grizzlies rookie Jaylen Wells suffered a scary fall late in the Grizzlies' Tuesday night contest against the Charlotte Hornets. While attempting a two-handed slam on a fast break, Hornets guard KJ Simpson threw his body into Wells while the Washington State product was airborne, causing him to land head-first seconds later. Wells was escorted off the floor on a stretcher, with everyone in the FedExForum arena unsure of his status.

Fortunately, an NBA insider recently provided an encouraging update on the promising first-year contributor. “Memphis Grizzlies rookie Jaylen Wells is awake, alert, and moving his extremities after being taken off the court in a stretcher tonight in Charlotte,” ESPN's Shams Charania wrote on X/Twitter. “Wells has sustained a broken right wrist and will continue receiving medical care.

” Although Wells’ upper-body injury is unfortunate, it’s good to know he’s regained consciousness and is poised to recover fully. The 21-year-old forward even posted a selfie on his Instagram story with the caption ‘Go Grizz’, allowing fans to see he’s in good spirits.
