GRIFFIN — The City of Griffin Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a proclamation naming Apr. 21-26 as “Georgia Cities Week: Imagine the Possible.” The vote came during their Apr.
8 meeting. Georgia Cities Week is sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) to showcase and celebrate cities and the many services they provide. Georgia Cities Week is part of the ongoing effort to raise public awareness of how city government works and educating citizens on how city services impact them.
Cities provide the services and infrastructure to help businesses grow and set the stage for events where families and individuals can gather as a community. As with many cities across Georgia, Griffin will celebrate Georgia Cities Week in a myriad of ways, focusing each day on a different aspect of what makes Griffin great: • Monday, Apr. 21 — Georgia Cities Week will begin at the Griffin Golf Course with the Play 18 for $20 Day.
Those playing Monday will receive a free hotdog, and a Register To Win Free Golf giveaway will happen all week. Players can book a Tee Time at cityofgriffin.com .
• Thursday, Apr. 24 — The community is encouraged to participate in the Party In The Park with Public Safety from 5-7 p.m.
at Raymond Head Junior Park, 1012 Beck Street. This event is free to attend and includes a free hotdog plate, face painting, games, music, and more. The new Griffin Police Department South Precinct and Community Center will be open for the public to tour.
• Saturday, Apr. 26 — The community is inv ited to participate in the Griffin Gives Back Community Wide Cleanup kickoff for Earth Day with the Griffin Environment Council and City of Griffin Departments. The event will be held at Raymond Head Junior Park, 1012 Beck Street, from 9 a.
m. to 1 p.m.
• Sunday, Apr. 27 — Griffin will offer its final event of Georgia Cities Week with the annual Food Truck Fly-In at the Griffin-Spalding Airport, 1035 S. Hill Street, from 11 a.
m. to 3 p.m.
This event is free to attend. Attendees will gather to enjoy delicious food and live music while taking in the sight of many local aircraft..
