Grey's Anatomy fans are ecstatic as it was announced this week that the hit medical series has been renewed for season 22 and introducing some new casting shake-ups. This week ABC revealed the exciting news that the medical series will be renewed for another installment following fears that it could be axed due to a recent drop in ratings. According to reports by Deadline , the upcoming season 22 will feature 18 episodes starring the original crew.

With this renewal, Grey's Anatomy will continue to be longest-running primetime medical drama and longest ABC primetime scripted series in the network's history. For the new season, actress Ellen Pompeo is expected to return to reprise her famous role as Meredith Grey, much to the excitement of long-time fans. In addition to the normal gang, a fresh new face will also be joining the cast.

Actor Trevor Jackson, famed for his role as Aaron Jackson on Grown-ish, will be making his debut on the medical series this season and next. The 28-year-old actor will be making his debut on Grey's Anatomy in episode 2117 as well as the season 21 finale. The actor's upcoming character has not yet been revealed, but he has been teased as a "handsome, intelligent, but arrogant man" who just relocated to Seattle, Washington for work.

It has not been confirmed whether Trevor's character will be a new surgical intern or a resident at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, many fans were buzzing with excitement over the news and can't wait to see Trevor take on his latest project. One user wrote: "Trevor Jackson is coming to Grey’s Anatomy?? I’m actually excited to see it.

" Another excited fan posted: trevor jackson in greys omg 2018 me prayed for this." While a third person chimed in: "The way trevor jackson boutta have me tuning back in ..

. i stopped during the covid season." And someone else sweetly wrote: "Really cool to see Trevor jackson getting more roles.

" But others were not as keen on the news, as they urged writers to refocus their efforts on the current storylines rather than adding in more characters. In a newly posted Reddit thread, one critic wrote: "No more new characters ffs." And another person agreed: "Hate this s--t.

I don't want new characters. Promote Natalie f----g Morales. She deserves it.

" While someone else chimed in: "They really need to make better storylines for other characters first because the storylines for the whole season is trash." Before landing his new role on Grey's Anatomy, Trevor has starred in a number of hit television shows and movies over the years. Some of his most well-known works include his appearances in Superfly (2018), Grown-ish (2018-2024), Let It Shine (2012), Burning Sands (2017), K.
