Gregg Wallace has hit back at his critics with a new statement as he made a comeback to social media on Sunday morning (December 1). The BBC MasterChef celebrity addressed the misconduct claims against him in a resolute video uploaded online. Gregg, who co-judges MasterChef alongside John Torode , attributed the complaints to "middle-class women of a certain age".

He highlighted his experience working with 4,000 participants over the years from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. "Apparently now, I'm reading in the paper, there's been 13 complaints in that time," said Wallace, noting: "I can see the complaints coming from a handful of middle-class women of a certain age, just from Celebrity Masterchef . This isn't right.

" In a follow-up video, he questioned his Instagram audience: "In 20 years, over 20 years of television, can you imagine how many women, female contestants on Masterchef , have made sexual remarks, or sexual innuendo, can you imagine?" The 60-year-old star of BBC's Inside the Factory stepped away from his role on the cooking show earlier in the week following the announcement that Banijay, the producer, was looking into past allegations of misconduct. The formal accusations, including those from Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark, alleged he had made numerous 'inappropriate sexual jokes', walked around the studio 'almost completely naked', and 'mimicked sex acts'. Wallace shared an update on his Instagram stories yesterday, posting an image of a gingerbread man nestled in what seems to be a mound of whipped cream.

The peculiar picture was captioned with 'enjoy your weekend, reports Birmingham Live . Prior to this, he had broken his silence with an Instagram video expressing gratitude to those who have supported him. He also posted an image from a Telegraph article that likened him to the contentious comedian Bernard Manning, yet labelled him as a 'top bloke'.
