POMONA, Calif. — After going winless since April, Greg Anderson needed to be perfect to win his sixth world championship Sunday at the 59th annual In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals Sunday at the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. The Duluth-born Anderson got everything he needed, outdueling Kenny Delco and Cory Reed in the first two rounds and facing Dallas Glenn — 2021 NHRA Rookie of the Year — in the finals.
ADVERTISEMENT In the winner-take-all final round, Anderson’s run of 6.50 seconds at 211.13 mph got him past Glenn’s time of 6.

Anderson admitted to struggling over the past several months, but it all seemed to come together Sunday. “I had a great car but crazy things would happen, and every time I’d lose it was like a slug to the gut,” Anderson said.
“I knew I had to figure it out, and today we did. Today was like a dream. The sun shined on me and we had a flawless day.
” The win was the 106th of Anderson’s career and his 15th win at Pomona. His sixth title now ties him with Erica Enders and Warren Johnson for second-most in Pro Stock history. What’s more, the struggles this season made this championship even more significant.
“This is my sixth and I think it means the most,” he said. “These young kids are trying to push me out the door, but I keep dragging my feet because I don’t want to go yet.”.
