Green Wave tops Wildcats in playoffs

The Summerville Girls Tennis team avenged a prior loss to advance in the state playoffs. The Lady Green Wave battled for a 4-3 win at West Ashley in the second round of the playoffs. The teams had met three other times this season with the Wildcats winning two out of those three.

However, last week’s loss tied the series for the year and ended West Ashley’s season. Sisters Grace and Abigail Hough accounted for three of Summerville’s wins in the playoff victory. After each sister won their Singles court, they teamed up at No.



1 Doubles to break a 3-3 tie between the teams. Green Wave seniors Chandler Roark and Kathryn Moore had teamed up to win the No. 2 Doubles court earlier in the match.

Summerville advanced to face Region 7-AAAAA Champion Wando on the road Nov. 6 in the third round and fell 6-0 to the Warriors. With the win, Wando advances to the Class 5A, Division 1 Lower State Championship match Nov.

12 to face Region 8-AAAAA Champion James Island. The Trojans defeated Carolina Forest 4-2 in the third round and defeated Ashley Ridge 6-0 in the second round..
