Many punk bands go the political route with their lyrics to complain and rise against the government, and Green Day is no exception. Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong drifted away from the song's original lyrics which are "I'm not a part of a redneck agenda" and sang, "I'm not a part of the MAGA agenda," to reference the band's disapproval of Trump as US president.

A user wrote on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter), "Well now I love Green Day even more! Based." On the contrary, another social media user had different things to say and wrote, "MAGA lives rent free in all of their heads." This performance marks Green Day's debut at Coachella, which took place in Indio, California.

Despite being the band's first time performing at the festival, their arrival was long-awaited among fans. Two months ago, Billie Joe Armstrong went viral on social media after a fan threw a Palestinian flag on stage during his performance in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The punk star noticed the flag, put it on his shoulder, and continued the performance, showcasing his pro-Palestine stance during the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, since Oct.
