A school in Tameside has been forced to close today at the start of the first full week back after the summer holidays. Longdendale High School reopened to students on Wednesday and Thursday last week. But today (September 9) the secondary school, on Spring Street in Hyde , has been hit by a power outage.

Staff said that 'due to circumstances beyond our control' the school would be closed. An update was posted on the Longdendale High School Facebook page at around 9.28am this morning.
