If nothing else, we can be grateful for surviving another election season. But if you look a little harder -- and a little closer to home -- you'll find a wealth of things for which we can give thanks. They often are the things we take most for granted -- food, shelter, relationships, the goodness of today and the hope for even better things tomorrow.

So as we enter the holiday season -- a time to gather and be grateful -- here are some perspectives, gathered from a variety of sources, on this Thanksgiving holiday and living with gratitude every day: “Even if you don't have all the things you want, be grateful for the things you don't have that you don't want.” “We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.” "When it comes to life, the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.

" “Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.” "Things turn out best for people who make the best of the way things turn out.

" "Let us remember that, as much has been given us; much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds." "Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there is.

" "I come from a family where gravy is considered a beverage." “The biggest laughs you’ll ever hear in life are like at a Thanksgiving dinner with a bunch of loved ones and nothing funny is said, you know, but there’s this laughter that’s going through the room and it just comes from love.” - “The turkey.

The sweet potatoes. The stuffing. The pumpkin pie.

Is there anything else we all can agree so vehemently about? I don’t think so.” “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle.

The other is as though everything is a miracle.” "We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures." “Detente — isn’t that what a farmer has with his turkey -- until Thanksgiving?” "Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.
