MANILA, Philippines — A grass fire observed on the island of Taal Volcano stopped on Wednesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). In an advisory, Phivolcs said the grass fire fizzled out at around 5:20 a.m.

on Tuesday, affecting the Binintiang Munti (VTBM) observation station at the southwest portion of the island. Asked what may have caused the fire, Phivolcs told INQUIRER.net that based on past incidents of grass fires in the vicinity of the VTBM in 2023 and 2024, “kindling” was the cause.
