'Grabbed throat, thrashed with belts': Pregnant woman, husband assaulted in Madhya Pradesh

A pregnant advocate and her husband were assaulted after a collision with two-wheeler riders in Indore. Despite informing the attackers about her pregnancy, they continued the violence. The attackers, Ahmed Ali and Syed Marjin Ali, were arrested, while one accomplice is still at large.

INDORE: A pregnant advocate and her husband were attacked after their scooter and a two-wheeler collided. A video of the incident went viral. ACP Tushar Singh said that complainant, who is four months pregnant, said that on Monday night she was heading towards Anand Bazaar from Khajrana intersection on her scooter, which her husband was driving.

Near a paan shop, their scooter was hit by the two accused ridding an electric scooter, causing them to fall. The complainant claimed that the accused picked a fight with her husband and used abusive language. When an argument ensued, they called their accomplices.



The two riders and their aid dragged her husband to a nearby building and thrashed him with belts. When the wife tried to intervene, she was assaulted. Despite informing them of her pregnancy, she was grabbed by the throat and pushed.

Complainant's acquaintance, Ankit, who was passing by the area, saw the fight and tried to intervene but he was also beaten. They then attempted to flee but the crowd caught the two men. The couple was taken to MY Hospital, where large number of right-wing activists came.

After their medical examination, they went to Palasia police station, where a case was registered. Singh said, "A case of attempted murder was registered against three people, of which Ahmed Ali and Syed Marjin Ali were arrested, and one is absconding.".
