SINGAPORE: Nasdaq-listed Grab has introduced new solutions designed for families and teenagers, offering a safe and dependable way for teens to travel on their own while providing reassurance to parents and caregivers.Grab for Family and Teens is one of several innovations introduced at GrabX, the company's inaugural product showcase, and is set to roll out across markets starting in May. Specifically designed with added safety measures for teenage riders, the service prioritises assigning rides to top-rated driver-partners with proven track records.
It also features a Ride PIN verification system to ensure teens get into the correct vehicle—when the driver arrives, the teen must obtain a PIN from them and enter it into their app, with the ride commencing only if the PIN matches.Another feature, AudioProtect, will soon incorporate generative AI to detect in real time if any dangerous situation arises during the ride, allowing Grab to intervene immediately.Grab said its Family rides come with trip monitoring capabilities, allowing parents to track their teens' journeys from start to finish for added peace of mind.
"Our technology will detect and flag, if there is unusual activity on a trip - such as a deviation, unplanned stop or premature termination," the company said.In addition to Grab for Family and Teens, the superapp also introduced a range of new features tailored to different user needs at its product showcase, themed "For Every You".These include the Large Order Experience for the Family 'You'; GrabFood for One and Shared Saver for the Solo 'You'; as well as Advance Booking for airport pickups, Dine Out Discovery powered by GrabMaps, and the Grab Travel Pass for the Explorer 'You'.
GrabFood for One is now available across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.Meanwhile, the Advance Booking feature for airport pickups is currently offered at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Yogyakarta International Airport, Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA 1), Phuket International Airport, and Seletar Airport in Singapore.Grab said there are additional launches in major cities planned in the coming months.
Grab co-founder and group chief executive officer Anthony Tan said the product showcase reflects Grab's dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to develop solutions that tackle real-world challenges and meet genuine user needs."These features have been designed with a philosophy we call AI-First with Heart - that puts artificial intelligence (AI) at the core of how we work and what we build, without ever losing sight of who we're building for."As Southeast Asians shift more and more to digital solutions for daily needs, we want to expand Grab's relevance to their everyday lives.
Our new suite of products is designed to achieve that, fostering growth and strengthening our connection with the communities we serve," he said at the event.© New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd.
