Where did you get the 88 ? lostexpectation said: The new Dáil has its first technical group - behold the new(-ish) ‘Regional Group’: Sean Canney TD Marian Harkin TD Barry Heneghan TD Noel Grealish TD Michael Lowry TD Kevin (Boxer) Moran TD Verona Murphy TD Gillian Toole TD x.com x.com 88 + 8 = gov? .. Not sure where you've gotten the 88 when FFG = 86 seats (48+38).

The thing is what the 8 will be looking for - seats at the cabinet? 94 would be a workable number lostexpectation said: The new Dáil has its first technical group - behold the new(-ish) ‘Regional Group’: Sean Canney TD Marian Harkin TD Barry Heneghan TD Noel Grealish TD Michael Lowry TD Kevin (Boxer) Moran TD Verona Murphy TD Gillian Toole TD x.com x.com 88 + 8 = gov? .. It's actually 94? But anyway that's the exact number Bertie gave in order to have a stable coalition.

...

looks to be the new government all right FFG plus these 8. lostexpectation said: The new Dáil has its first technical group - behold the new(-ish) ‘Regional Group’: Sean Canney TD Marian Harkin TD Barry Heneghan TD Noel Grealish TD Michael Lowry TD Kevin (Boxer) Moran TD Verona Murphy TD Gillian Toole TD x.com x.

Yep. That’s the next government. FF/FG and above.

There’s room in case one or two from all three groups abandons ship. More stability than going in with Lab or Soc Dems. Now they need to get on with it.

Huge amount of work to be done. They better live up to the mantra that we’re all Green now. Climate change to the fore in all decisions.

.. 86 + 7 + 1CC It's more than enough.

.. One of the more depressing aspects of the GE result was that the three largest parties are all lukewarm on this most vital issue.

Bastards. Anyway, here's one I posted on another thread earlier: It's taking shape: Mr Lowry indicated that he and the Independents who are expected to allow him to negotiate on their behalf – Noel Grealish, Seán Canney and Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran – will not be seeking ministries. But they will have a long list of demands – with transport and housing chief among them.

Galway East TD Mr Canney, who worked with the 2016 Fine Gael government as part of the Independent Alliance, confirmed he would be interested in doing a deal. He pointed to the Western Rail Corridor from Athenry, Co. Galway, to Claremorris in Co.

Mayo as a significant ‘regional’ requirement he would need before agreeing to come on board. ‘All the parties have it in their manifestos. Now is the time for action, not talk,’ he said.

Mr Canney also said that cutting red tape around social and affordable housing was also important to him. Wexford TD Verona Murphy, named herself, Mr Grealish, Mr Lowry and Mr Canney as the four Independents from the regional grouping of the last Dáil who were interested in government. Click to expand.

.. Independent TDs line up to be part of government Michael Lowry has been in touch with Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael about government formation talks as the Civil War parties' determination to strike a coalition deal with a group of Independents hardens.

Are u suggesting Marian Harkin as the CC. But they are saying that it's unlikely that we will have a new Gov. by Christmas, under the constitution the Dail must meet within 30days of the GE which would be before Christmas.

One of the first items would be the election of the CC. Is it now done by secret ballot with no party whip applied. Catherine Connolly would have a lot of cross party support with her being the leas CC in the last Dail I know FG won't care but surely plenty in FG wont be happy with a convicted criminal Lowry being part of the Govt statsman said: They won't vote with SF against FF anyway; a safety net.

.. It really doesn't matter which Indo gets it, but FF and FG will hardly want to give up one of their own TDs for the job.
