Gov. Jim Pillen on Tuseday appointed Drew Gonshorowski as director of Medicaid and long-term care for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday. He will replace Matt Ahern, who has been interim director since December 2023 when Kevin Bagley retired.
"I appreciate Matt’s public service during his time at DHHS," Pillen said in a press release. Gonshorowski served as a policy analyst for 12 years, most recently as a senior research fellow for Paragon Health Institute. Before that, he worked with the Heritage Foundation.
His current work deals primarily with Medicaid and health insurance markets, but he also has experience evaluating the effects of reforms on health policy, Social Security and retirement issues, according to the press release. Gonshorowski will assume his duties on Dec. 9.
He will earn an annual salary of $185,000. People are also reading..
