There’s nothing tastier than homemade chips, but using oil to fry them can be dangerous, especially around children. Luckily, Gordon Ramsay has shared his simple chunky oven chip recipe , which is ready in under 20 minutes. The recipe notes said: “[This recipe ] makes healthy and tasty chunky chips, without deep-frying.
” It has more than 180 five-star ratings on BBC Good Food and this recipe serves four people. What’s more, it’s dairy-free, egg-free, gluten-free and low sugar, perfect to pair with any meal. Ingredients: 750g Desirée potato, about three medium/large, peeled Groundnut oil Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper Method: Start by heating the oven to its highest setting, around 250C or 230C Fan.
Next, cut each potato into 1cm-wide slices, then slice again so the potato is cut into 1cm-thick slices. Place the potato sticks into a large pan of boiling water for three minutes before draining them well. Shake the potatoes out into a roasting tin before drizzling them with some oil, and ensure each chip is coated well.
Season the chips with salt and pepper to taste, then turn them again to ensure they are evenly coated. Bake in the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes, making sure to turn the chips at least twice. By the end, they should be lovely golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the oven and season with salt, if you fancy. Pair the chips with any meal you fancy such as fish, sausages or burgers..
