When you're craving something filling and delicious for dinner, a burger is always a good idea. They're so easy and quick to make at home too, often much healthier than getting one from your local takeaway. Whatever you like to load into your burger, whether that's salad, cheese, sauce or all of the above, there are a few different elements that all come together for the best taste.
And the iconic chef Gordon Ramsay adds one simple step to the preparation process which is said to really make all the difference. After sharing his simple burger technique on YouTube , people were in firm agreement that it looked unbelievable. In this particular clip, the chef was in Australia so was cooking up a Wagyu burger.
However, this extra step will work with any kind of burger you're making - even meat-free ones. You'll want to cook the burger as normal in a pan with some oil, seasoning it with a little salt and leaving it to cook for a few minutes before flipping it over. Then, add some butter and use it to baste the patty, flipping it over a few more times until perfectly cooked.
The next step is what's really going to give your burger that enviable, restaurant quality taste - and it's all to do with how you cook the bun Take your bun, slice it in half and melt some more butter in a pan before popping in the buns cut-size down. Then, just allow them to toast until beautifully golden. Rather than just popping them in the toaster, this additional step - which only takes a few minutes - will add so much more flavour and texture to your burgers.
To really kick the flavour up a notch, Gordon also caramelised some onions in the pan as well, adding butter, salt and Worcestershire sauce to cook them. He also whipped up a delicious sauce made from mayonnaise, ketchup and more Worcestershire sauce, and melted a slice of cheese atop the burger too. And to finish things off, a fried egg went on top of the burger as a final flourish.
People in the comments were full of praise for Gordon's technique, with one person writing: "This man is by far my favourite chef." Another joked: "I love how he used a whole stick of butter just to toast the buns." And a third said: "Finally, someone putting caramelised onions on a burger instead of raw onion.
Caramelised is next level for flavour. That burger looks absolutely unreal!!!".
