Good Morning Britain viewers were left fuming after a presenting shake-up on Monday, with many saying they had 'switched off' from the ITV breakfast show

Good Morning Britain saw a shake-up in presenters that led to viewers "switching off" this Monday (April 14). Charlotte Hawkins and Richard Madeley took the helm early in the day, with additional news segments served by Marverine Cole. They tackled the day's pressing stories, from Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner 's suggestion of military intervention in the Birmingham bin debacle, to the frantic efforts to avert the closure of Britain’s remaining steel production hub.

Add to that, they delved into the latest Celebrity Big Brother happenings. Despite the wide-ranging discussions, it seems fans weren't exactly enamoured with the hosting ensemble, venting on X (formerly Twitter) about their discontent. Gripes ranged from quick tune-outs at the sight of the day's hosts – "Turn on #GMB see who is presenting and turn off.

Absolute s*** show," – to concerns for personal health provoked by the show's content: "Which is why I decided to stop watching #GMB Not good for my blood pressure." Other expressed intentions to disengage rang through the social platform: "Good god Richard's back with Charlotte, time to switch off," and a repeated sentiment of viewing fatigue: "I can't do it anymore.", reports Manchester Evening News.

Some viewers were more direct, declaring an outright break from the morning routine: "Not this week thanks. Can't watch Madeley," with one viewer summarising it as: "Sounds like chaos." In contrast, sprinklings of appreciation surfaced amongst the criticisms, bolstering Richard'S performance over Ed, and praising Charlotte, even calling for her to secure the role permanently, aligning her with Sian’s position on This Morning.

One fan penned: "Richard is so much better than Ed and Charlotte is an absolute delight. She needs to be given this job full time like Sian should be given full time on #ThisMorning." The announcement follows the news that Susanna Reid , the regular host from Monday to Wednesday, is taking a break after revealing her plans earlier in the month.

"Susanna, we'll see you in a couple weeks time," Ed Balls remarked as he concluded the show. See you in a couple of weeks, I'm going to go and spend some time off. I will be back, do not fear," Susanna assured viewers before passing the baton to Lorraine Kelly.

In Susanna's absence, a roster of familiar faces including Charlotte, Kate Garraway, and Ranvir Singh have stepped in to present the popular breakfast programme. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am.
