On Friday's edition of Good Morning Britain, the programme featured Kate Garraway and Paul Brand teaming up to take the reins. While regular Good Morning Britain fans have grown accustomed to seeing Kate Garraway delivering Friday's news alongside co-hosts like Adil Ray, Ed Balls, and Richard Madeley , this time they were treated to a rare sight as ITV news correspondent Paul Brand took up the co-presenter seat. Paul Brand, who isn't often spotted helming the show, received a warm greeting from Kate, who said: "Lovely to have you here by the way!" In response, Paul added: "Great to be here this morning.

" As Kate mentioned it had been quite some time since they last anchored together, Paul confirmed, saying: "It has been a little while. I'm used to late nights rather than early mornings, but it's lovely to be here this morning with you." Kate playfully retorted: "Brilliant thank you, we'll see if you feel like that at nine o'clock!" Though Paul is a familiar face on Good Morning Britain for news updates, his previous stint in the presenting seat dates back to 2022, reports the Mirror .

Announcing his hosting gig for the week's end, Paul shared a nostalgic tweet featuring an image beside Kate, humorously warning: "Hope @kategarraway is feeling especially patient!" The announcement sparked excitement among social media users, with messages of support streaming into the comments section. One enthusiastic fan commented: "You're brilliant at whatever you do, really looking forward to. Good luck.

" Someone else wrote: Loving Paul Brand in the studio today." Another viewer praised the presenter, saying:"Refreshing to have Paul presenting this morning," while another comment read: "Good to see Paul Brand presenting this morning." One particularly enthusiastic tweet read: "Paul Brand-start to the perfect day.

Thank you, GMB." During the show, Charlotte Hawkins highlighted the overwhelming response from viewers excited to see Paul Brand take the helm. After sharing some of the positive feedback, he humorously suggested that his mother might be behind some of the tweets.

Kate Garraway chimed in with her own words of welcome: "Actually, it's 'true'. It's lovely to have Paul here, it's lovely to have everybody here but it's lovely having you here." She then acknowledged Paul's significant contributions to journalism: "You brought us so many of the big stories which have shaped the news narrative over the last few years.

Haven't they? Remind us of Covid ." Responding to Kate, Paul reflected on his experiences reporting during the pandemic: " Covid , I spent a lot of time in care homes, and I know you know a lot about caring for people, Kate, and I know you have a lot of respect for unpaid, also cared careers. "That was an extraordinary story, seeing the pain people were going through during the pandemic.

Feels like a long time ago now." Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6a m..
