ROCHESTER — Goldfish Swim School announced that Shamu LLC led by Murtaza Musajee and Fareeda Hussain have signed a lease agreement to open a Goldfish Swim School in Rochester. The new Goldfish Swim School is now in development at the Miracle Mile Shopping Center, which is located at 104 16th Ave. NW.

The location will feature a 90-degree pool, a viewing area for parents and a tropical-themed facility designed for both parents and kids. ADVERTISEMENT With Goldfish Swim School’s curriculum and small class sizes, children will be able to develop swim skills, build confidence, and have fun in the water, the company said. Goldfish Swim School provides swim lessons and water safety instruction to infants and children aged four months to 12 years, teaching children how to be safer in and around the water.

Each school offers swim lessons and programs using "The Science of SwimPlay" to build life skills in and out of the water using play-based learning in a fun and safe environment, the company said. The school’s top focus and main priority is educating children on water safety while teaching them how to swim and respect the water. “We have been Minnesota residents for 20 years and love the Rochester community and look forward to providing them with a Goldfish Swim School to help keep their children safer in and around the water,” Murtaza Musajee, franchise owner of Rochester’s Goldfish Swim School, said in a statement announcing the swim school.

“As a parent to two young children, ages 21 months and seven years old, I understand the importance of educating them at a young age and showcasing our mission to provide a safe and encouraging environment where children can learn vital water safety skills while developing a lifelong love of swimming. We look forward to welcoming families to our new location at Miracle Mile Shopping Center.” Each swim school employs 50 people, on average.

This location is scheduled to be open by next summer with hiring beginning in the upcoming months. “Murtaza and Fareeda are ideal franchise owners to expand the Goldfish Swim School brand in the Rochester community because of their passion and commitment to kids and water safety,” Chris McCuiston, CEO and co-founder of Goldfish Swim School, said in the statement. “The Rochester Goldfish Swim School will meet an important need in the community.
