THE last time Goilala Rugby League was in full swing was back in 1996 to 2006 under the leadership of Raphael Oropi. Since then Goilala District has only participated in some organised rugby league competitions like the formerly run Central Premier League which Goilala Karukas have had the selected players making the side. The Karukas as a household name for the Goilala people in rugby league had been in existence from 2015 -2017.

This year 2024 under the sponsorship of Madam Provincial Member Rufina Peter has paved abit of history for Goilala Rugby League to have a league of its own after 18 years. A special word of thanks to the member for the tremendous and great initiative and great support to our youths through sports. Goilala Rugby League president Pio Allan thanked the member for her support in helping the league to be sustained throughout the season.



It’s been a challenging year, but to reach a grand final is very fitting to a season of great footy. Augustine Amato, the vice chairman for Central Rugby league was also instrumental in organising Goilala RFL this season. Central Rugby League chairman Burau Burau also thanked the Provincial Member for Central Rufina Peter for the great support for all the leagues in the province.

Tomorrow Birag Rats led by Nicholas Koma will do battle with Erom Tigers led by Gab Kume. Daeatai will also feature in tomorrows grand Final as well at Moresby Souths Stadium. Bara Dugongs will lock horns with SS Diggers from Sabuia.

There will be other Grand Finals this week as well. Domara RFL will host its grand Final at Domara village. Gabadi and Inauabui will aslo host grand finals this week.
